Over the past few weeks I’ve been spending more of my time in battlegrounds and arena on my Rogue, as well as leveling yet another alt – a dirty Warlock. It’s only in the last couple of weeks that I’ve been able to find time for some regular PvP action. One thing I’ve noticed is [...]
I have to admit, I skipped the Midsummer Fire Festival last year because... well... I was lazy. I couldn't be bothered with all the riding around that would be involved to visit all the fires. In 12 months, I'm not sure that my attitude has changed. I don't think all the riding around is really for me. Read more...
When it comes to PvP, Arathi Basin aside, some of my biggest frustrations have been felt in the Eye of the Storm battleground. A large part of the frustration stems from the apparent confusion from team mates over what it takes to win the battleground. Read more...
For those people that were on the borderline of being ready to enter the Ice Crown Citadel raid, Blizzard have just done you a big favor by increasing the + damage, health and healing buff by another 5 per cent. Read more...
I was in an Ice Crown Citadel (ICC) 10 man raid last night and the group had cleared up to Festergut. For those that don't know, Festergut is basically the first boss of the second wing of ICC and is basically a 'DPS race' or gear check. Festergut has a relatively short, 5 minute enrage timer, so if a group can't drop him within that time, then they will be unlikely to progress much further with the raid. Read more...
Here's an interesting video of a Rogue soloing Patchwerk (25 man mode), the "target dummy" boss in Naxxramas.
The video runs for close to 10mins, however the Rogue has said that the entire fight lasted 4 hours 45 minutes. Reading the guys comments there was liberal use of evasion, shadow step and waiting for cool downs. Maybe it's an 'exploit', maybe not, either way, hats off to the guys persistence! Read more...
Engineering is a profession. It's sometimes entertaining, sometimes funny, sometimes useful, sometimes useless and sometimes the biggest waste of gold you'll find in game. Of the crafting professions I've leveled to 450 - currently Leather Working, Jewel Crafting, Enchanting and Engineering - Engineering was by far the most expensive and painful. For every one useful item you are able to craft, you'll make three useless ones. Read more...
Today I thought I'd touch on a semi-controversial topic, the use of Rowan's Rifle of Silver Bullets by Hunters. Let's get something straight, Rowan's Rifle is in no way itemised for Hunters. It carries strength, parry and dodge. Rowan's Rifle is clearly a 'stat stick' for Warrior tanks. A Hunter should never be rolling against a Tank for Rowan's Rifle. Never. Ever. Read more...
The other day I was running Heroic Pit of Saron with a dual wield Death Knight frost tank and Rimefang's Claw dropped. Said Death Knight began jumping up and down with great excitement. Now at this point, I should add that I'd spent a majority of the instance run feigning death or switching to viper to make sure that the mobs were paying the tank sufficient attention and not trying to claw my face off. So you're a hunter that has hit 80 and you're looking to gear up as fast as possible without setting foot in side of a raid. What do you do? Simple. Run the ICC 5 mans on normal and heroic modes until you're decked out in the finest iLvl 232 gear you'll find -- outside of the raid environment or an emblem for gear transaction.
Even the normal modes of the ICC 5 man dungeons drop iLvl 219 gear which is the equivalent of what you get from Heroic Trial of the Champion or the 10 man Ulduar raid.
With the ICC 5 man dungeons, Blizzard have made it easier than ever for freshly minted level 80 characters to catch up to their higher gear counterparts.
Pick up all the gear from this guide and you'll be more then Epic in a couple of days. Read more...
